Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Youth Men and Women Boxing Championship 2026 concluded successfully at the multipurpose hall of Yogasthali Sports Complex in Haridwar, marking an exciting showcase of emerging boxing talent from across the state.
The tournament witnessed participation from teams representing all 13 districts of Uttarakhand. In the girls’ category, Pithoragarh delivered an outstanding performance to emerge as the overall champion.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya highlighted the growing prominence of Uttarakhand as a hub for boxing. She expressed confidence that the state’s young athletes would soon represent India at prestigious international events such as the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games.
Encouraging the participants, she emphasized the importance of hard work, discipline, and dedication in achieving sporting excellence. She assured that the government remains committed to supporting athletes in building their careers, including provisions for out-of-turn government jobs for those bringing laurels to the state at national and international levels.

The minister felicitated the winning players and teams with trophies and medals.
Several prominent officials and sports administrators were present on the occasion, including Boxing Association General Secretary Gopal Kholiya, President Nirmaan Mukherjee, international coach Devendra Chandra Bhatt, Treasurer Naveen Tamta, and Haridwar Boxing Association District President Vishal Garg, among others.
The championship concluded on a high note, reinforcing Uttarakhand’s commitment to nurturing young sporting talent and promoting boxing at the grassroots level.
